Bled as a place was first mentioned in written sources as early as 1004 and is thus one of the oldest Slovenian places. For those less visited places around Bled, you will have to make at least a little effort, maybe even breathe harder and even sweat. Lake Bled is the result of the operation of the Bohinj Glacier, which carved out the valley of the Sava Bohinjka and, among other things, left behind a large basin on the site of today’s lake.
